This is MY journey with MS! I give you my thoughts, feelings, hopes, and prayers. My wish that one day this disease will come to an end. That one day there will be a cure. For now, I hold on to possibility. I HOPE this will help and inspire not only myself but others.

Zach

Have you heard of Chiari Malformation? Chiari Malformation is where a part of the brain, the Cerebellum, falls into the brain stem blocking the flow of spinal fluid to the brain. A friend of ours son, Zach, was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation and had major brain surgery Tuesday. There is no cure for this and the only treatment is the surgery.

According to the doc who did the surgery it was very much needed as his malformation was extensive, especially considering his age. He is 11 years old. The surgery went well but he is in a lot of pain. The recovery is supposed to be difficult and lengthy.

So, at this time I am asking everyone to please keep them in your prayers. And, if you live here locally, if you wish to donate something to them. Donations are also being taken at Joe's Chevron on Jadwin & McMurray as well as at Joey's 1983 on Court St. in Pasco. Thanks!

My son Matthew has Chiari also. He was decompressed last year at the age of 4. Please tell your friends that we will keep them and Zach in our thoughts and prayers while he is recovering. Here is our site if they are interested: http://www.freewebs.com/matthewschiari/

Anonymous,

I was fortunate enough to have worked in the medical field before I got sick and had great doctors that were top of their fields. So, we are confident in my MS diagnosis. Having said that, I have many other medical conditions that I deal with on a regular basis and cancer has been one of them.

From what I know about Syringomyelia, this can happen at any time in someone's life either as a reponse to Chiari or from other injury and/or illness. My last MRI of the back was 4 years ago when I went through the MS diagnostic process. I have had some changes recently and am scheduled to have MRI's of my back done next week. I will let you know how it goes.

I hope you are well.
Take care,
Jaime
